415 Wins Big at Haunted Oaks

The Haunted Oaks Film Festival is becoming a staple of the Hallowe'en season here in Pittsburgh. Each year, for one night only, the beautiful Oaks Theater in Oakmont, PA puts on its spookiest attire and welcomes filmmakers from all over the city and beyond. Local filmmaker and founder Lance Parkin pulls out all the stops for this one-night celebration of the macabre. From stand-up sketches with a dad-joke cracking Dracula, to a visit from a serial killer fresh from urban legends, the show was truly a blast.

The highlight, of course, is the dozen short films on showcase. Culled from a large batch of submissions, the films represented some of the area's best talent.

Grimm Sleeper Productions was featured tonight as well, as Joshua D. Maley's 415 returned to the big screen for its second local festival screening. The short walked away with a number of awards tonight, including: Best Writing (screenplay by Joshua D. Maley), Best Actress (Jess Paul as Darby), 2nd Place Overall, and the coveted Audience Choice Award.

Congratulations to all the winners, and to all the films selected to screen! Check out the images below for a look at the festivities!
